BREAKING NEWS

By Rosie
What a year.....I had mentioned earlier on this year that I would compose another two songs.  In fact I ended up composing seven songs and two instumental pieces.

The name of the music CD is titled "Chrysalis". Representing a stage of life just prior to re-birth, hence the beautiful butterfly logo resting above the title.  It is a music story book of my cancer experiences where you will find moments of humour and sadness, it is uplifting in parts and can fill you with feelings of hope.

The two Anns and I are very excited and all smiles, as you can see, as we celebrate our first CD album release at our favourite restaurant; Fish 349 in Hobart.  It was a regular haunt of mine after each cancer treatment.

The Cd's are $10.00 each plus postage.  50% of profits from each disk will be given to the Australian Cancer Research Foundation so that we can all contribute to finding a cure for all cancers.

Fathers Day Chocolates

By Rosie
Fathers Day has now come and gone.  I had been very busy making chocolates of various sizes and with many different fillings prior to Fathers Day.  These chocolates had covered my queen size bed.  A week before Fathers Day a friend, Sally came and gave me a hand to sell some of these chocolates outside our local Post office.  Colleen and Noel owners of the Post Office were very kind, generous and supportive.  Jeff the owner of our local Dodges fish and chip shop was also very generous in supplying Sally and I a lovely cappuccino.   Again I felt very privileged and humbled by the locals, their generosity was amazing.  Even a local dog called Toby wanted to be involved.  Thankyou everyone in Dodges Ferry for your wonderful support.

I would also like to thank Country Wide in Rosny for their support.

Everyone, I have spoken to know of someone who has, or have themselves experienced cancer.  My aim is not to support one kind of cancer, I am supporting eradication of all cancers.  The money that I collect through my chocolate sales go to the Australian Cancer Research Foundation and then it is passed on to assist the Researchers to find ways to destroy the many different types of cancers.

Keep well and enjoy life

THANK YOU

By Rosie
I would like to thank all who have supported me in raising money for the Australian Cancer Research Foundation through the sales of my Cd “One Day We'll Meet Again” and the selling of my home made chocolates.

Many thanks to the Dodges Ferry shop keepers and the locals for their support when I sat outside the Post office selling my wares in the fickled weather.

I would also like to thank my sister-in-law Quita and her daughter Tracy, for taking two large bags of my chocolates, on consignment to sell to their work mates back in Melbourne.

I am delighted to say that with all this wonderful support $1000.00 has now been donated to the ACRF.

Morning Tea at Anne's Home

By Rosie

I would like to say a big thank you to Anne and her husband David for arranging morning tea in their lovely home.

We were all delighted to support the Australian Cancer Research Foundation with this fun,  fund raising morning get-together.  We started of by donating a gold coin for entry.  Raffled a lovely plant, bath bombs and mugs.  Sold a few music sheets and CD’s also loads of chocolates were sold.

Many thanks to all the wonderful people who came to support us, and provided plates of delicious food.

I was humbled by the many stories that were told of loss, survival and continuing treatments of family members and friends.

Rosie:)

Caregiving

By Rosie
Scanned Image 111180000.jpg

My daughter sent me this book to read.

She thought it would give me an insight on how my "caregiver husband" Jeff, family and friends would have felt when I was going through my tough times.

This book is about Madelyn Kubin, Elaine's mother.  Madelyn wrote letters of how she felt as she was caring for her dear late husband Quentin after his stroke.
The courage, faith and love shown by Madelyn as she cared and watched her partner suffer, did wear her thin at times but she still managed to find humour.

This story can relate to anyone caring for a loved one with any type of illness.
I found this book extremely moving and recommend it as a wonderful read.  I do suggest that you have a box of tissues by your side.

I received this Caregiver Survival tips with my book and would like to share it with you.

First day at Tai Chi

By Rosie

Tai-Chi-Symbol.jpg

A friend rang this week inviting me to join her Tai Chi class.  I thought this would be ideal for me now, I have recovered from my cancers, and the onslaught of all the different tests and treatments over the last three years.

I commenced my first class on Wednesday morning.  After introductions to the teacher and the other women in the group, we commenced with warm ups, apparently this helps to get the blood circulating around the body.

After our warm ups, we then commenced a series of slow flowing movements.
We were reminded to focus on our dan-tien.  This is the area three fingers width down below your navel.  This is also known as the bodies centre of gravity.  When you focus on your dan-tien it will help you to relax and centre yourself. The main element of Tai Chi is the breathing.  You need to coordinate your breathing with each movement.

Now, these movements were not easy for me as I found my arms were still weak and my balance was mmm! let me say not good.  I was so busy concentrating on the teacher and the rest of the ladies around me, that I nearly fell over a few times from my bad balance and also, my lack of concentration.  However, I made up when we put all these movements together with music.  It was an amazing experience.  I know I wasn’t brilliant with my movements and I had to remind myself to be patient as this was my first day.

After, those flowing movements with music, we mediated for around seven minutes.  After mediation we walked around waking our bodies up with gentle stretches.  I was very impressed and will be back to enjoy another class next week.

I decided to browse the web after I came home from my class.  I wanted to find out more on Tai Chi and its benefits.  I was surprised to find, there was so many benefits that can help us all.  For me, I can improve my balance and posture, strengthen my immune and digestive system.  This gentle exercise harmonizes the mind, body and spirit and promotes physical and mental well being.
