I was delighted to have been invited by co-founder and riders Tim Mckay and Emma Weitnauer and Gilbert Lorquet of the Australian Cancer Research Foundation to attend the official launch of the inaugural Headin' South For A Cure cycling challenge.
These ten Hobart Firefighters will commence the ride on the first January 2013. They will be peddling hard for fourteen days from Brisbane to Hobart for a very worthy cause. They are hoping to raise $100.000 and this money will be going to the ACRF.
I was also asked if I would talk about my experiences of going through my cancers. I was extrememly nervous but I kept thinking of all my friends and their families who are going through or have lost a family member. This gave me the strength to stand up and tell my story.
My thoughts and prayers will be with these ten bike riders when they commence this extremely challenging ride and wish then a safe return to Hobart.
