On Saturday 23rd June I was invited by the Tasman Hobart Firies to come along and join them at Salamanca to promote their cause "Headin' South for a Cure". These ten Firies, are riding from Brisbane to Hobart in 14 days to raise $100,000 for the Australian Cancer Research Foundation. I must add that two of these Firies are women...way to go ladies.
The weather was very cold.....the sun did came out for a short time along with a rainbow and Mount Wellington look her best covered in a layer of snow.
My friend Anne and I were well rugged up and kept warm drinking hot green tea as we sold a few home made chocolates.
The Firies were taking it in turns riding their bikes, while others were collecting donations.
Mr Pig from the Bendigo Bank was loved by the children and I must say a few adults. Many photos were taken with Mr Pig. The people visiting the Salamanca markets were very kind and generous in supporting this worthy cause.
